My Make Up Essentials

First things first: I am not going to pretend to be an expert on make up. I just love to use it and I felt like sharing my essentials with you.

Let’s start at the very beginning: a very good place to start. Okay, all Sound of Music references aside, I have to start with a really good face cream, since my face is more sensitive than the information regarding Area 51. I kid you not. The tiniest mistake, and I blow up like a little blowfish. Granted, blowfish are adorable, but still. It’s not cute. So to stop that from happening: face cream. After that, I use a primer. It makes my make up stay on longer. I use MAC’s Prep + Prime Natural Radiance after being advised by one of the sales assistants. It can’t hurt to do a little research online before you go to the store, but the people working there will always be prepared to help you.

Moving on to foundation. For two years, I’ve very happily used the Skin Foundation Stick by Bobbi Brown, because it’s super easy to apply and it provides all the coverage you want. Plus it lasts, like, forever. Which great, since it’s a bit expensive. Recently I’ve switched to Bobbi Brown’s Skin Foundation SPF 15only because I like the feel of a liquid foundation on my skin better. Especially after an allergic reaction. The Skin Foundation SPF 15 feels super soft and light on my skin, while still providing great coverage and protection from the sun’s harmful rays. And don’t be fooled, you need that protection, even during winter.

When I was twelve, I had an accident which left me with a sort of permanent bruise under my right eye. I don’t mind it, but I do like it if my concealer completely covers it. That’s why I’m a fan of Bobbi Brown’s Corrector and  Creamy Concealer KitFirst I apply the Corrector, which lightens the dark spot under my eye, and then I apply the concealer over it, which evens it out to my skin tone. To make sure the concealer stays on all day, I apply the pressed powder, which comes with the kit. So handy! To top it all off, I use MAC’s Blot Powder as a finishing touch.

I don’t particularly like the way I look with heavy eye make up, so I usually keep that to a minimum. The Perfectly Defined Gel Eyeliner and Eye Opening Mascaraboth by Bobbi Brown, are the only two products I use. It hardly takes me any time at all to apply my eye make up, since I leave it at those two products. On most days, that’s the end of my make up routine, but sometimes, when I feel like it, I add a bit of Blush.

So there you have it. My make up essentials are pretty basic, but they’re all I need to feel like a total hottie. And let’s face it: everyone deserves to feel like a hottie.

Talk to you later,

Mel ♥
