Did you miss me?

It’s been a long time coming.

Leave it to me to start my first post in two years with a Taylor Swift reference. Bonus points to you if you got it.

Anyhoo. Hey, hi, hello! How’s it going? I know it’s been way too long, and I should technically give a recap of everything that transpired in the past two years. That would turn this post in a novel, and I don’t really have the time for that. And in the spirit of: “not everything needs to be shared on the internet”, I’d also just like to keep most things to myself.

However, there are two MAJOR highlights that I’d absolutely love to share.

A wedding happened

Not just any wedding, mind you. MY wedding. Yes, I got married this year! To the most wonderful woman in the world. Sometimes I still can’t believe that I’m married. It sounds way too adult. But waking up to my ✨ wife ✨ every day is truly amazing. We had a small wedding, with just our family present, in one of the most beautiful locations in Amsterdam. It was perfect from beginning to end. One of my favourite things to do is just look at all of the pictures and relive the best day of my life. I can’t wait for the rest of our lives together, to see how we grow and learn together. To go on all the adventures, big and small. And to keep enjoying the tiny things, every day, over and over again.

A house was bought

And my God, it is hard to keep reminding ourselves of the tiny things we so appreciate, since we stepped on the rollercoaster that is homeownership. First of all, let me say we are beyond privileged to have been able to buy a house. In Amsterdam. In this economy. Okay, it’s an apartment, but you get it. We lovingly refer to it as our little nest. However, it’s been the main source of stress and sleepless nights since… April. The end is almost in sight, but we have long way to go. The most important part is that we’re working on making it completely our own, one step at a time. Which includes a ballet-pink wall in our bedroom. My wife said letting me pick the colour was an example of “how to keep your wife happy 101”. She’s right, of course.

Wall painting in progress, the colour used is called "ballet pink"

All this to say…

It’s not like I haven’t written anything in these two years. I’ve just kept them all to myself, or only shared them with a very select group of people. But it brings me so much joy to write. Whether it’s updates about my life, little poems, short stories, or opinions, I love writing. And with my wife encouraging me to write more every day, maybe I’ll keep sharing my writing with you.

Till next time! Hopefully it won’t be another two years 😇
